1-Does the ultrasound use any radiation? Are there risks associated with an Ultrasound?

 -No, it is a safe, non-invasive, non-hazardous procedure. The Ultrasound utilizes sound waves without harmful side effects and doesn’t use ionizing radiation as an x-ray test does. 

 

2-Do I need a Doctor's prescription for the ultrasound exam? 

-Yes, a prescription is required from a healthcare provider. Even if you use the self-paid option for the exam, regardless of the insurance. Learn more about that...

  

3-Is it possible to have an ultrasound without an appointment? 

-Yes, but it is based on our scheduled patients, Walk-ins are accommodated on an availability basis. Remember, a patient with an appointment has priority. 


4- What are your methods of payment without insurance?

At the time of your date, you will need to provide a Credit Card, Debit Card, or Cash. We don't accept Money Orders or Checks.  


5-Can I use my Healthcare Insurance as a payment method?

-At the moment, we are in the network with: Medicare Insurance ( If you are enrolled with Medicare as a free patient (Free Medicare), Preferred Care Partners, and Preferred Care Network Insurance. We are in the process of enrolling with other Healthcare Insurance.


6-How do I prepare for my exam?

-To prepare for your exam, please review the section of Ultrasound Services, open your specific exam, and there you can see if the exam you are having done requires preparation.

  

7-How long should I wait once I check-in for my study?

-There will be no waiting time. Please do the check-in 15 minutes early. We need from you some information and must sign some documents prior to the exam. Remember, your delay may affect the next patient's schedule.

 

8-How long does my ultrasound take?

-It depends on the type and number of exams you are having.  An ultrasound exam lasts usually 25-60 minutes.

 

9-Could I receive any comment or a preliminary report at the end of the exam?

-No, all the information concerning the exam, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, risks, and alternatives will be given by your healthcare provider.

 

10-How does my doctor get the results?

-Your healthcare provider’s office will receive a copy of your final report by FAX, it is generated within 24 hours and automatically is sent to your doctor. It is the patient's responsibility to contact the doctor for the ultrasound results. 

-Following the Rules of HIPAA, your medical record is confidential.

-You may request the final report for your record.  In case you need the final Report for your record or other healthcare providers, you must sign a release form (see the section: Resources / For patients). Remember, the final report is generated within 24 hours of your date of examination.

 

11-Can I request a copy of my images?

-Yes, we can produce upon request a copy of your images ( without a final Report) on a CD at the end of your examination, with an additional fee.


12-Can I obtain a note to explain my absence from work or school?

-Yes, we provide you a written note for your absence time. No medical Information is available for this Miami Sonogram Note.
